Strip-out and preparation

- How we do it
- We cut cast-iron or steel baths up inside the room itself so they come down without damaging the landing or the lift, and we plug the waste before breaking out so no rubble goes down the stack.
Stripping the old tiling
- What we do
- Removing tiles and render back to a sound surface.
- How we do it
- We work with extraction at the tool and the door sealed with a dust sheet. If the wall is sound and true we consider tiling over the existing tiles — that saves days, rubble and the noise that causes friction with the neighbours.
Levelling floors and walls

- How we do it
- We back-butter and use levelling clips so no tile sits proud of the next. We set out from the tile you actually see, so the cuts land in the corner rather than across the mirror line.

- A joint-free finish on walls, floor and a formed tray.
- How we do it
- We apply mesh and microcement coats over the substrate and seal with a two-part polyurethane. Without that seal the hard coastal water marks the finish within months.

- We lay class 2 or 3 porcelain depending on use, and set the tray to fall towards the drain, checking it with a level before the mortar goes off.

- How we do it
- We set a 1–2% fall and put the linear drain against the wall rather than centrally: water never sits where you stand, and the trap stays accessible.
Made-to-measure screen

- A screen manufactured and fitted to the real opening.
- How we do it
- We measure after tiling, never before, because the tile thickness changes the opening. We fit 6–8 mm toughened glass with an anti-limescale coating — essential with the water here.

- Changing to a wall-hung pan on a hidden frame.
- How we do it
- We fix the frame to the slab as well as the wall, never to hollow brick alone, and leave the mechanism accessible behind the flush plate for future faults.

- How we do it
- We use chemical anchors where the wall is plasterboard or hollow brick, and run the mirror light feed in the chase from the start — so nobody has to cut into new tiling later.
